Rebecca Bray, LPC-MHSP · Founder, The Tired Therapist
Hi, I’m Rebecca.
In 2020 I stepped across a socially-distanced graduation stage with a diploma in hand and a mind that felt like it was free-falling. I was walking right into a system that expected me to stay grounded while the world was on fire. My professors had lectured for hours on “self-care,” but they didn’t mention the weight of a windowless office or the numbness that comes with a night-shift intake.
I did the hobbies. I took the walks. The weight on my chest remained. From the high-pressure units of psychiatric hospitals to the “heads in beds” metrics of an IOP, I’ve been the therapist on the other side of a Zoom screen trying to hold space for a child living in a hotel. I’ve lived through the shame of not knowing enough and the flight response that led me to flee jobs and state lines just to find a lifeboat.
I built the Growth Zone Model — Comfort, Fear, Learning, Growth — to map that journey back. Today I speak, write, and consult with therapists, group practices, and hospital programs — especially those launching virtual adolescent IOP programs — so the clinical work can be grounded in evidence-based modalities and decorated with our own authentic voices.
How I can help
Three ways to work together — whether you’re a clinician, a program, or a conference.
Speaking
Keynotes and workshops on the Growth Zone Model, clinical burnout, and bringing your authentic voice into the therapy room. Signature talk: “Doing It Scared.”
Program Consulting
I help group therapy practices and hospital programs — especially those launching virtual adolescent IOP programs — design structures that work clinically and keep the people running them whole.
